Christina and John didn’t figure out the gender with their first baby (my beautiful cousin, Stella), and they did the same for their second. I never really understood the whole deal of leaving the gender as a surprise until just recently. See, I received a text on Sunday night from Christina, letting me know that she was in labor and that I would have to head to the hospital this morning for their First 48 session. One of the first things I told Christina was DO NOT tell me the gender when he/she arrives… simply just let me know when “baby” is here. I wanted the surprise… the amazing moment of finally meeting my newest family member.
I wasn’t disappointed.
I’m tearful now, just thinking about it. He is beautiful. So sweet and soft. Just like his big sister was as a newborn… but with a beauty that is all his own.
In the quiet calmness that seems to fill a room abounding with people welcoming a new life, I asked precious Stella, “how does it feel to be a big sister?”
She simply responded, “big”.
Oh, little mama, you got it. It is big. It will be your biggest frustration and your biggest blessing. Being a big sister is not something to be taken lightly. It is the most subtly ENORMOUS roll. It is special. Sure, he’ll drive you crazy, but let me tell you something, beautiful girl… he will hold a place in your heart that no one on this earth could ever take… ever. You two will share a love (and maybe even a “dislike” at times) that no one in this world will understand. But you will. There is truly nothing bigger than that.
I am honored and incredibly proud to introduce you to my new baby cousin…

…you have worked with Stella, and now Rider. I really enjoy viewing.
So amazing!! I’m thankful you’ve captured these amazing moments. I’m far away but these really make me to feel like I’m there with them.
I just love these two!! Stella has been the best growing up into the little lady that she is!! I always here her calling me “Pabby.” When she began to call me “Tabby”, it broke her Mom and I’s heart!! Now as Rider is getting older, I can’t wait until he starts to talk, I am making sure his first word is “Pabby” 😀 I have loved watching him grow his first year, I can’t wait to see how handsome he will be as he gets older!!Your pictures are simply gorgeous and I enjoy seeing all of your amazing pictures!!
